Key takeaways
- Warehouse breaks are short and everyone takes them at once, so fast checkout and enough machine capacity matter.
- Las Vegas heat makes cold water and electrolyte drinks the most important items in the building.
- Crews doing physical work need filling food: meals from a smart cooler, plus hearty snacks.
- Qualifying warehouses get machines, stocking, service and repairs at $0, with no long-term contract.
Why warehouse vending is its own challenge
A warehouse breakroom is nothing like an office kitchen. The break whistle goes, a whole crew walks in at once, and everyone has a few minutes to eat, drink and get back on the floor. If the line at the machine is slow, or the drink they wanted is sold out, that break is gone.
Add the heat. Distribution centers and fulfillment buildings across the valley get hot in summer, even with cooling. Crews moving product all day need to drink a lot, and they need food that holds them through the shift, not a bag of chips.
And many buildings run around the clock. The overnight crew needs the same options as day shift, but they are often the ones who find empty coils.
What warehouse crews actually need
Hydration first
Cold water, electrolyte drinks and sports drinks should take up a big part of the drink machine. Energy drinks and cold coffee matter too, especially on early and overnight shifts. In summer, these are the items that sell out first, so restocking needs to keep up.
Food that works as a meal
People doing physical work need real calories. A smart cooler can hold sandwiches, wraps, ready meals, salads and fruit. A snack machine should lean toward filling options: protein bars, jerky, nuts, trail mix, pastries and larger bags, along with familiar favorites.
Choices for people eating better
Not everyone wants a candy bar. Protein, low-sugar and better-for-you snacks should always have a spot, and fresh fruit from a smart cooler is often popular.
Plan for the break rush
The biggest mistake in warehouse vending is planning for total headcount and forgetting that people show up together. A few practical rules:
- Split snacks and drinks into separate machines so two lines move at once.
- Add a smart cooler for food. It is a glass-door fridge that opens with a card tap, and cameras see what you take, so several people can grab items at the same time. You are charged only for what you take.
- Make payment fast. Tap-to-pay, chip cards and phone wallets beat fumbling for bills. Our post on why cash-only machines cost you sales covers this.
Placement tip: Keep machines in the breakroom or right outside it, near the time clock if possible, and off the warehouse floor where forklifts, pallets and dust are a problem. Each machine needs about 4 by 4 feet near a standard 110V outlet.
Supporting your crew with a perk
Some warehouse managers want to do more for their team, especially during the hottest months or peak season. With Stellar, a company can make certain items free or discounted for employees and be billed monthly. Free water and electrolyte drinks in summer, or discounted meals for overnight shifts, are simple ways to show the crew you notice the work they do.
Our post for HR and office managers explains how a snack perk works, and most of it applies to warehouse teams too.
What to ask a warehouse vending company
- How do you know when we are low? If restocking is based on a fixed weekly route, summer drinks will sell out between visits.
- Do you service overnight-heavy sites? Ask how they plan for shifts that buy at odd hours.
- How fast do you fix a broken machine? A dead drink machine in July is a real problem.
- Who handles refunds? Your supervisors should not be dealing with lost money.
- What is the contract? Long terms with auto-renewals are common with old-school operators. Ask how to end it.
Keep every shift fueled. Tell us about your building and shifts, and we will confirm within one business day if it qualifies.
How Stellar handles warehouse vending
Stellar Vending is locally owned in Las Vegas. Our warehouse vending setup is built for big crews, short breaks and buildings that never stop.
- Free for qualifying warehouses. Most locations with 50 or more people on-site daily qualify. Machines, delivery, installation, stocking, service and repairs are $0.
- Restocking from live data. Every machine reports stock and sales live, so we see when each shift buys and plan restocks around it. Busy locations are typically serviced 2 to 3 times per week.
- The right machine mix. Touchscreen snack machines, glass-front drink machines, combo machines and smart coolers for fresh food, with fresh items rotated 2 to 3 times per week and temperature monitored remotely.
- Fast payment. Tap-to-pay, chip cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with cash on request.
- Repairs within 24 hours of a report, from our local team. Refunds go back to the card or phone used, through the QR code on the machine.
- Crew input. Anyone can request a product by scanning the QR code, and we adjust the lineup from sales and requests.
- No long-term contract. The placement agreement can be ended with 30 days’ notice.
If you are stuck with an old machine, we can plan a smooth swap timed to when your current agreement ends. See our guide on switching vending companies, and our facility manager’s guide to hands-off vending for what to expect day to day. We serve warehouses and distribution centers across the valley, from the I-15 corridor in North Las Vegas to industrial parks along the 215 in southwest Las Vegas and Henderson.
Where to start
